Kempton Great Engines Trust has created the opportunity to purchase a unique experience for those who find huge old oily steam engines fascinating. Imagine the look on your loved one’s face as they check steam pressure and engine temperatures, prior to turning the valve on the barring engine to slowly turn the 32 ton fly wheel on the world’s largest triple expansion steam engine in steam today. After two turns, they will open the main steam valve and, then by keeping an eye on the vacuum in the condenser, bring the engine up to and keep the speed at 18 r.p.m by adjusting the steam valve. An instructor will be on hand to advise.

There are only 7 steaming weekends a year when the recently renovated Number 6 1928 Triple Expansion Engine rumbles into life and you or your loved one could be the person to set it in motion.
