Directions by public transport

From Twickenham Station (frequent South West Train services from London Waterloo, Clapham Junction and Richmond):

• Turn left out of the station and proceed to Arragon Road (100 metres)

• Take the 290 bus towards Staines (bus every 20 minutes; journey time 22 minutes)

• Alight at Nailhead Road bus stop

From Staines Station (frequent South West Train services from Reading and Windsor):

• Take the 290 bus towards Twickenham (bus every 20 minutes; journey time 24 minutes)

• Alight at Nailhead Road bus stop

From Nailhead Road bus stop:

• Walk down to the big roundabout, turn left into Snakey Lane with the petrol station on your right

• Turn left again at the mini-roundabout, following Snakey Lane with the Müller dairy on your left, and turn sharp left into the waterworks and Kempton Steam Museum

• Go through the ‘Museum Entrance’ gate if open; otherwise contact security on the main gate to be allowed in

• Follow the road round to the museum and railway

From Hatton Cross Underground Station (frequent Piccadilly Line services from Central London):

• Take the H25 bus towards Hanworth (bus every 20 minutes; journey time 25 minutes)

• Alight at Castle Way bus stop

From Feltham Station (frequent South West Train services from London Waterloo, Clapham Junction, Richmond, Reading and Windsor):

• Take the H25 bus towards Hanworth (bus every 20 minutes; journey time 9 minutes)

• Alight at Castle Way stop

From Castle Way bus stop:

• Walk along Castle Way in the same direction as the bus, into Sunbury Way

• Follow Sunbury Way to the big roundabout under the flyover

• Turn right into Snakey Lane with the petrol station on your right

• Go left at the mini-roundabout (second exit) with the Müller diary site on your left and turn sharp left into the waterworks and Kempton Steam Museum

Total distance to museum: 1 mile

From Kempton Park Station (half-hourly South West Train services from Shepperton and London Waterloo via Kingston on weekdays and Saturdays; hourly on Sundays)

• On leaving the station, walk across the car park and turn right into Park Road; follow the road over the railway bridge

• Turn right alongside the A316 dual carriageway and follow the path into the underpass underneath the A316 (Kempton Steam Museum’s twin chimneys will be visible ahead)

• Turn right at the end of the underpass and follow the path alongside the A316 elevated section to the big roundabout under the flyover

• Turn left into Snakey Lane with the petrol station on your right

• Turn left again at the mini-roundabout, following Snakey Lane with the Müller diary site on your left and turn sharp left into the waterworks and Kempton Steam Museum

Total distance  to museum: 1.8 miles

Directions by road (use sat-nav TW13 7ND)

From London:

• Travel west on the A316 and take the Feltham exit

• Go right on the roundabout and take the third exit into Snakey Lane (signposted Feltham, Lower Feltham) with the petrol station on your right

• Go left at the mini-roundabout, still following Snakey Lane, with the Müller diary site on your left, and turn sharp left into the waterworks and Kempton Steam Museum

From the M25:

• Leave the M25 at Junction 12 and take the M3, direction Richmond and London

• At the end of the M3, where it becomes the A316, look out for the exit signposted Feltham, Lower Feltham

• Take the exit down to the roundabout under the flyover and take the first left into Snakey Lane with the petrol station on your right (signposted Feltham, Lower Feltham)

• Go left at the mini-roundabout, with the Müller diary site on your left, and turn sharp left into the waterworks and Kempton Steam Museum

Note to drivers: the nearest sat-nav reference point to postcode TW13 7ND is Adrian Hall Garden Centre (see map above); if you see it on your right… you’ve gone too far! Carry on along Snakey Lane to the mini-roundabout and turn around.
